Maple-Crafted Berry Gallette
Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, pre-rolled or homemade
- 3 cups mixed berries (strawberries sliced)
- 5 tbsp Elderberry Maple Syrup
- 1 tbsp sugar (maple sugar preferred)
- 2 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
- 1/4 tsp lemon or orange zest
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp milk mixed with 1 tbsp Maple Craft Syrup (for brushing)
- 2 tbsp flour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper (for dusting)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Shape the puff pastry into a rough circle or oval.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lay the pastry on top.
- Sprinkle the flour mixture over the pastry.
- Cook 2 cups of the berries with the syrup, sugar, zest, and vanilla for 5-7 minutes over low-medium heat, without burning.
- Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for another 5 minutes. Let cool and thicken.
- Toss the remaining fruit into the pot and stir gently.
- Pour the fruit mixture onto the center of the pastry, leaving about 2 inches of plain pastry around the edges.
- Fold the edges over the fruit.
- Brush the top of the pastry with the maple milk mixture.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled.
