Challah French Toast Casserole (w/Maple Glazed Pears)

French Toast Casserole Ingredients

1 Challah (or brioche bread) cubed - Reccomend cubing bread and storing in airtight container a day or two before making this recipe for best result.

12 eggs

2 cups of milk

1/3 cup Maple Craft Syrup (Original or Honey Infused Bourbon Barrel Aged Reccomended)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp salt

Maple Glazed Fruit

2 tbsp butter

3 large pears, sliced thin and cored (apples, bananas or berries work as well)

4 tbsp Maple Craft Syrup (Optionals: double this to put a layer in the middle of the casserole as well).

Instructions

Preheat over to 350f

Saute fruit in a hot pan with butter. Once the fruit starts to soften and brown, add maple syrup and allow to cook for another couple of minutes.  Set fruit aside.

Oil a large casserole dish with a light layer of oil.

Place a layer of cubed challah in the oiled dish.

Beat the eggs in a large bowl and add milk, syrup, vanilla and salt.  Mix well.

Pour about 1/3 of your mixture over the bread (if filling, add a layer of fruit).  Fill the casserole dish with remaining bread and pour the rest of your mixture evenly over the bread.

Bake covered for 30 minutes. Take casserole out to remove cover and add fruit on the top of the casserole.  Bake uncovered for an additional 20-30 minuets or until casserole is firm and top is lightly browned.

Serve hot with milk, cream and/or Maple Craft Syrup if/as desired.
